Οι 100 καλύτερες ταινίες του 21ου αιώνα για τους New York Times

Σε πείσμα της προσπάθειας Τραμπ για καλλιτεχνική περιχαράκωση των αμερικανικών συνόρων -με την επιβολή δασμών 100% σε ταινίες που γυρίζονται εκτός ΗΠΑ- οι New York Times ανέδειξαν τα Παράσιτα του Νοτιοκορεάτη Μπονγκ Τζουν-χο στην 1η θέση με τις 100 καλύτερες ταινίες του 21ου αιώνα. Μπολιασμενη με κατάμαυρο χιούμορ και στοιχεία θρίλερ, η ταινία απεικονίζει την ταξική αντίθεση μέσα από τις ζωές δύο οικογενειών της Νότιας Κορέας -σε μια κοινωνία της Άπω Ανατολής που έχει ως οικονομικό πρότυπο την αμερικανική.

Δύσκολα θα ξεχάσει κανείς τη δήλωση του σκηνοθέτη στην τελετή των Χρυσών Σφαιρών το 2020: “Όταν ξεπεράσετε το εμπόδιο του ενός ιντσών που είναι οι υπότιτλοι, θα γνωρίσετε τόσες υπέροχες ταινίες.”,  ένα σημαντικό σχόλιο για την προκατάληψη του κοινού απέναντι στις μη αγγλόφωνες ταινίες κι ένα ισχυρό μήνυμα για τη δύναμη του παγκόσμιου σινεμά.

Το εντυπωσιακό είναι ότι το συγκεκριμένο φιλμ πέρασε το Mulholland Drive & το In the Mood for Love, τις δύο μοναδικές ταινίες που γυρίστηκαν μετά το 2000 και φιγουράρουν έως σήμερα στις λίστες με τις καλύτερες ταινίες όλων των εποχών.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι η λίστα καταρτίστηκε από επαγγελματίες του κινηματογράφου – σκηνοθέτες, ηθοποιούς κ.ά. – με τον καθένα/την καθεμία να υποβάλλει έως 10 επιλογές.
