Σήμερα ανακοινώθηκαν οι υποψηφιότητες των Oscars και είναι πια επίσημο – το La La Land θα μείνει στην κινηματογραφική ιστορία, καθώς με τις 14 υποψηφιότητες που απέσπασε κατάφερε να ισοφαρίσει το μεγαλύτερο ρεκόρ που κατείχαν μέχρι πρότινος ο Τιτανικός και το All about Eve! Η δυναμική της ταινίας τόσο στα βραβεία, όσο και από το ίδιο το κοινό, εξαργυρώθηκε και αναγνωρίσθηκε από τα μέλη της ακαδημίας που το στέφουν πια το φαβορί για το βραβείο Καλύτερης Ταινίας. Έπειτα από αυτό, ακολουθούν το Moonlight και το Arrival με 8 υποψηφιότητες έκαστο, ενώ την κατηγορία Καλύτερης Ταινίας συμπληρώνουν τα Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, Lion, και Manchester by the Sea.
Στις υποψηφιότητες βλέπουμε και Έλληνες, καθώς οι Γιώργος Λάνθιμος και Ευθύμης Φιλίππου είναι υποψήφιοι για Oscar Πρωτότυπου Σεναρίου για τον Αστακό, ενώ και η Δάφνη Ματζιαράκη είναι υποψήφια για το μικρού μήκους ντοκιμαντέρ, 4.1 Miles. Τέλος, άξιο αναφοράς είναι το γεγονός ότι εκτός από την ισοφάριση του ρεκόρ από το La La Land, η Meryl Streep κατάφερε να σπάσει το δικό της ρεκόρ για τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες υποκριτικής, αποσπώντας την 20
